SPEAK WELL OR ITS BETTER TO KEEP SILENT

Hajj

Silence is wisdom, especially if there are no good words to say. These days people tend to state anything for the sake of speaking, a few of them know that quietness is one of the good deeds that will be weighty on the scale; as if you keep silent you will save your self from falling into a huge sin.

Good words always bring goodness in this life and also hereafter. Good and kind words will allow you to see the kindness of others and therefore you have not any kind of hatred instilled in your heart.

If we put this idea into practice, words can not describe the tranquillity and peace that will flow through out our day and applying this good value helps us to become more productive by making complete use of our time which results from making commemoration, reading beneficial books or just contemplating. It is also very important to know why quietness is preferred when there are no good words to say, as our tongue will trap us into backbiting and we fall into speaking about others in awful intentions and say things that might reason regret later on.

There are numerous evidences from Hadith and Verses from the Holy Quran that address this issue, the advice we must take from the mentioned ahadiths are that we must defend our tongues and be conscious of what comes from it, as we would not desire to enter hellfire because of the harvest of our tongue. Let us analyze ourselves and think on what went on through out the whole day.

Be cautious of your words if you don’t have anything to say remember “speak well or remain silent”.

Verse 33:70-71 of Holy Quran,

O you who have believed, fear ALLAH and speak words of appropriate justice. He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys ALLAH and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.

Our tongue is like double-edges swords. They can work for us and also against us, both in this world and the Hereafter. We will be held answerable for what we say. ALLAH Almighty tells us in verse 50:18 of Holy Quran,

Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

We should be watchful not to speak falsehood. We should think about what we are saying and the probable consequences of our words before we go ahead and speak. From the perfection of a person’s belief is his showing sympathy to those with whom he has dealings, especially his neighbours and his guests.

May ALLAH Almighty make us among those who hear the superior advice and follow the best of it.

holy quran

Still, to start with, a person must have idea of what Holy Quran is and what it means to him, and such that he should recite Holy Quran, with total commitment, complete dedication, as it demands. The Holy Quran is the greatest blessing of ALLAH Almighty.

Verse 2:38 of Holy Quran,

We said, “Go down from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

It is the guidance to your frail existence as you struggle and strive against the forces of evil and temptation in this materialistic world. Holy Quran is the means to overcome your anxiety and fear. Holy Quran is the ‘light’ (noor) by which you can find your way to success and salvation.

Holy Quran is the healing (shifa) for your inner sickness for soul, mind etc, as well as the social ills and evils that may surround you. Holy Quran is the constant reminder (Zikr) of the messages and commands of ALLAH Almighty.

Verse 6:155-156 of Holy Quran,

And this [Qur’an] is a Book We have revealed [which is] blessed, so follow it and fear ALLAH that you may receive mercy. [We revealed it] lest you say, “The Scripture was only sent down to two groups before us, but we were of their study unaware,”

Reciting Holy Quran without understanding is nothing, the Holy Quran is a big treasure that ALLAH Almighty Has given in order to benefit from this worldly life and also in the world hereafter. Muslims must understand that Holy Quran is a gift of ALLAH Almighty to all humanity and they must recite it with meaning. By this a person will benefit everyday; the guidance of ALLAH Almighty is open to all nations and to all peoples around the world.

Verse 54:17 of Holy Quran,

And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

Although the recitation of the Holy Quran in itself brings numerous rewards, the blessings of the Holy Quran can only be advantageous in our lives if we understand the Blessed Message of Holy Quran, and should try to implement its guidance in our every day lives.  So it is completely imperative on each and everyone who has been blessed with the Holy Quran.

Verse 39:23 of Holy Quran,

ALLAH has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of ALLAH. That is the guidance of ALLAH by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom ALLAH leaves astray – for him there is no guide.
